Invitation and Giveaway....

I was privileged with creating the cover for Landed: Transformative Stories of Canadian Immigrant Women published by @campfirekinship

It was quite a unique experience for me to create a painting to wrap around a book and that would be "finished" digitally.

Now I'm completing the physical piece to have a voice of its own. It dances the line between deeply personal and a collaborative illustration. It will be on display at the book launch September 17

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.

There is something so beautiful about taking somet

There is something so beautiful about taking something simple and transforming it into much more than the sum of its parts.

Maybe it's the amount of life we invest in it, maybe it's because we showed the truth or overcame our fears. Or it may be the amount of love we create it with. But what we make is special, there is an energy that lives within each piece.

I was creating a reference model for my next water

I was creating a reference model for my next watercolour painting (if you've been following along you know I paint a lot of origami).
I lost track of time and then I realized I was making my paper birds dance to the music with one of my paintings as a background. And I knew I had to record it.

I dedicated the next three mornings to painting skies to use as a background, no logic here, I just allowed my inner child to lead the way and have fun.
