There is something nostalgic about the turning of the leaves: lessons learned, seasons changing, the passing of time. This illustration was inspired in part by an old book my mother treasured from the time she was three, which has remained in my family long after her passing. The idea of being cradled not only by generations past, but by an older version of ourselves, brings me a sense of peace as we move through the seasons of life.
About Catalysts
Catalysts is a collection of original mixed-media works created in response to stories written by Canadian women for the anthology The Fires We Lit. Each piece began as an encounter with another person’s words and became an independent visual reflection on what remained.
